Eastern Sunz provide a fresh take on political, social, and environmental issues which has recently landed them the 2012 Eco Arts Awards grand prize, first place in The International Songwriting Competition, a John Lennon Songwriting Contest honorable mention, and The Independent Music Award for Album of the Year.
Intelligent lyrics, captivating production, and timely subject matter are the driving force behind the Portland, Oregon duo's music. Courage and TravisT have steadily been touring nationwide as well as overseas, and continue to rapidly expand their fanbase to all corners of the world. They have released five full length albums including the most recent, Corroded Utopia, which was voted Rap/Hip Hop Album of the Year by The Independent Music Awards, and released a new EP entitled "Filthy Hippie Music" in 2012.
Eastern Sunz offer a powerful alternative to hip-hop's status quo by bringing focus to a wide variety of topics under the guise of identifiable and entertaining music which has been featured in award winning documentaries and on national television. They successfully raise important questions regarding the current condition of the world without alienating the casual listener.

FAQs
How did you guys meet?
We met at a fundraiser when we were both performing with different groups. We performed some songs together, and ended up collaborating in the future, and that eventually evolved into Eastern Sunz as we're known today.
How long have you guys been together?
We have been together as a group for almost 10 years. TravisT started out as a DJ, and after getting on the mic during a freestyle session on his birthday, eventually developed himself as an MC as well. Courage has been writing rhymes since he was in the third grade.
Where are you from?
We are currently residing in Portland, OR. Courage was born in Pasadena, CA, and moved around a few times before coming to Ashland Oregon. TravisT was born and raised in Medford, OR, went to college in Ashland, and spent a couple years in the Bay Area. Eastern Sunz also spent several years living and performing in Seattle, WA.

Why are you called Eastern Sunz if you are from the West Coast?
This one is pretty straight forward. The sun rises in the East. Eastern Sunz is a metaphor for the collective consciousness rising.
Is your bitter rival Western Moonz real?
Yes. They are very real and they hate us. We have no idea what we ever did to them, and why they choose to harass us.
